With ten years of experience in the recruitment industry, we asked Grant what attracted him to recruitment and why SThree was - and still is - the perfect fit.
What are the biggest attractions for you when it comes to recruitment?
“The satisfaction you can get from finding a candidate the perfect job is unparalleled. In order to create the perfect match I know I need to offer the right advice to my customers, something I learned from my own personal experience during my work at other recruitment firms.”

What about the significance and importance of the IT sector, does that play a role?
“The IT industry is constantly developing which makes it a hugely interesting area to work in. As someone who matches the right people to the right teams, I can’t help but feel like I’m part of these technical developments happening all around me.”
“For example, we assisted in hiring the ‘Apple Pay’ team for Apple in Japan. We had a huge part to play in finding the staff who were part of the launch there. This is just another example of the satisfaction you are rewarded with when you place someone in their dream job.”
…and the potential to provide excellent customer service?
“Customer service is always at the forefront of what we do across all of our industries.”
What do you value most about your career in recruitment, what sets it apart from other careers?
“Not only do you pick up excellent people skills like in a lot of sales jobs but you also gain top business development and contract negotiation skills. I also value how my day-to-day roles have developed, from a junior recruiter working from candidate to client pieces to management roles where I have had to grow a team and nurture the people within it.”
You must have had other offers; why SThree?
“I was fortunate enough to meet the fantastic management team at SThree before I took the job, including Vijay Deol, the director of SThree Japan who is a very inspirational leader. I really connected with them from the start.”
“SThree was also a latecomer in the Japanese market and I felt that it had huge potential for expansion which allowed me to build my team from scratch and grow my career on a personal level too.”
