Earlier this week, our team from SThree brand Real Life Sciences in Singapore met for their bi-annual Vision Meeting to discuss their achievements of the previous six months and share their ideas and targets for the year ahead; only this year it turned out to be a quite different kind of event.
The meeting started as always with praise for the fantastic work of the local teams and encouragement to move forward, meet their targets and reach their career goals; but most importantly it was an opportunity to review the collective progress of the team.
Right up until here the session was the same as every year, however this time, our colleagues from Singapore took a different turn. They decided to not round up the meeting with the usual team bonding meal and spent their time instead with a group of underprivileged children from a local children’s home who have often been abused, abandoned or neglected in the past.
Jumping for joy
Real Life Sciences teamed up with a local organisation to spend the afternoon with the children in a trampoline park and treated them to pizzas after. According to our team, the children aged 7 to 15 years were an amazing group to have around.
“It did take a short while for a couple of the children to warm up, but after only a short time, they were all having a great time, jumping on the trampoline and engaging in a mini rock climbing session in the trampoline park,” says Mark O'Halloran, Business Manager for Real Life Sciences in Singapore. “It felt really rewarding to see smiles all around and hear so many thank yous when the children left.”
This was definitely a memorable afternoon for the Real Life Sciences team; not only were they able to bring joy to children who haven’t had an easy start in life but they also bonded as a team thanks to the knowledge that they were able to give something back to their local community and remain true to their daily vision of ‘making their day’ for their clients, candidates and colleagues.
With a lot of team members wanting to give back to others less fortunate as part of their personal goals and motivations they have already started planning the next event they can host.
