As a multi-brand specialist staffing organisation we’re proud to be part of industries that’re changing lives. Every day our people place experts in their respective fields who make a difference to the world we live in.
Whether it’s through cancer research, engineering space exploration, automating technology processes, or transforming customer experiences through digital. To achieve these feats, we each seek guidance and inspiration from those we trust and respect; a mentor.
#NationalMentoringDay
Today we join people from across the UK in recognising and celebrating mentoring for #NationalMentoringDay. Now in its second year, National Mentoring Day aims to reach their goal of every person in the UK knowing how to access a mentor by 2020 and to shine a spotlight on excellence in mentoring; positioning the UK as the global leader in mentoring.
National Mentoring Day was launched to recognise the significant benefits of mentoring across the UK and takes place on October 27th each year. The day was created by Chelsey Baker, an award-winning business mentor to help encourage and celebrate mentoring in all its forms.
“The relationship and role that a mentor plays has never been so important in today’s fast paced and challenging times. Mentoring has long proved to play a vital role in supporting individuals, businesses and communities; National Mentoring Day has been launched to celebrate this and promote awareness on the positive benefits of mentoring,” says Chelsey.
Our Mentoring Programme
Mentoring helps develop talent from all backgrounds to enter management or non-management roles and drive their career forward. As we continue to build a workforce that matches our society, our SThree Mentoring Programme has been an essential part in bringing people together to build the future.
The Programme which will soon be entering its 4th cohort has given individuals access to personalised support from experienced people across the company. The programme is an important part of our people’s growth and development to ensure they can achieve their career goals, whatever they might be.
What our mentors have to say
Victoria Morgan, HR Diversity Manager says, “When you work at SThree, our people’s career progression is firmly in their hands. Their hard work and our meritocratic approach means there are no limits to what they can achieve, from consultant to senior manager.
“The Programme demonstrates that mentoring has positively impacted our retention rates, where employees who are in the Mentoring Programme, are more than twice as likely to stay with the company, than those who qualify for the Mentoring Programme, but who aren’t in the Programme,” says Victoria.
Andy Hallett, SThree Commercial Director continues, “Being a mentor gives me an idea of other people’s roles and areas of the business; it also gives me some insight into how I am perceived as a director – which is really valuable. I’ve definitely learnt a lot from the experience and benefitted enormously.”
Matt Mackenzie, Business Manager at SThree brand Real in London says, “Seeing my mentor on a regular basis makes me a better team manager and helps me achieve the next level in my career.”
