From running workshops to collecting work wear, our team in Bristol have been making a difference for job seekers at every stage of the journey.
Jim Merryfield, Senior Recruitment Consultant for SThree brand, Huxley, shares how colleagues in Bristol have been contributing to our CSR objectives to ‘transform lives through skills and work’.
“We’ve been working with St Mungo’s - a charity and housing association working with people who are sleeping rough, in hostels or at risk of homelessness. Using our own experience and knowledge, we held workshops around interview techniques, work etiquette and CV writing. Some of those in attendance had never had a formal interview before and will be up against a lot of competition on the job market. We focused on building their confidence, sharing best practice on how to address gaps in CVs and how to speak confidently, linking personal relevant experience to behavioural questioning.
“We also partnered with a local charity called Common Purpose and assisted them in a project with Henbury School where three of our colleagues hosted mock interviews as part of their career week.
“We also took part in a suit drive to collect and donate clothes for job seekers as work wear can be a large upfront cost for people who have been out of work for a while. We managed to collect 28 suits and hopefully help as many people feel more comfortable and confident in a formal interview.”
