With Christmas fast approaching we thought we’d update you on one of the many projects we’re working on with our partner, SOS Children's Villages.
We invest time and energy all year round to give help to those who need it and we've started a few initiatives across the SThree Group which will help finish the year with a positive impact on children's lives.
Lights for Christmas
This year the team at Progressive GE, our diversified global Energy Staffing Company, decided to not buy cards and gifts for clients and spend it instead on a solar project in the SOS Children’s Villages in Gulu, Uganda. It will transform Gulu into a “green village” and provide a much needed reliable, economical, and environmentally sound energy supply.
The project will see solar panels installed on twelve family houses which provide a loving home for orphaned and abandoned children.
The region around Gulu is known for its unreliable energy grid. The solar panels will provide a sustainable energy source for 110 children who are in permanent care. It’s estimated the panels will save the village over €10.000 per year, money that can then be reinvested in other important areas such as meeting the special educational needs of traumatized children.
Our partnership with SOS Children
This is just one of many SOS Children projects we, and you, have been generously supporting for many years. Since 2009, SThree has been a transformational partner of SOS Children who support vulnerable children around the world including programmes in Zambia, Nepal, Syria, Brazil and India.
We have set ourselves a target of donating £1,000,000 by 2018 and we’re already over two-thirds of the way there with £736,000 raised so far; and we have our people to thank for leading our fundraising initiatives which SThree then match, up to £50,000 a year.
