To ensure the health and wellbeing of our staff, all of our employees have still been working in their home offices during the Covid-19 exit plans, most of our work is still completed at home. Although, in line with the nationwide easing of restrictions, we have now decided after careful consideration to slowly reopen our offices within the DACH region.
What does that mean?
We are opening our offices gradually, taking into account the prescribed restrictions and hygiene regulations, for a reduced number of our people. The arrangements are regularly reviewed and the return of our employees to the office is completely voluntary. Above all, we want to offer our newer employees, who may have only started working with us weeks before Covid-19 the opportunity to receive optimal support, training from their managers and the Learning & Development team.
What is the procedure?
Before the gradual opening of our offices, precautions were taken. All necessary safety precautions were taken into consideration and all areas of the office that are being used have been marked in colour. The office has been split into individual sections which have been marked with barrier tape to ensure maximum safety. Every Wednesday, an email is set our to our team and our employees are given the chance to register for the office, on a voluntary basis. On Fridays, the assigned areas and seats are then communicated so everyone is fully aware of the measures in place before they return to the office. On Monday mornings, a check in system will take place in the assigned lounge areas, where admission wristbands are distributed. Throughout the day, employees will only stay in their assigned area and will observe the necessary hygiene and clearance rules.
There are no compulsory use of face masks at the at the site itself, but as soon as you leave the site you should cover your mouth and your nose. Water bottles have also been provide to limit the use of our water dispensers and desk's have been equipped with disinfectant and gloves. Meeting rooms, lunch areas and sofa corners will remain closed for the time being to avoid accumulations of several people. The offices are cleaned and disinfected every day in the evenings and a basic clean is also carried out every Sunday.
What do our employees have to say about this?
So far, the return to the office has already been taken up by a few of our employees. The feedback has been consistently positive. Our teams are feeling happy, safe and can once again use the advantages that come with the office. The managers are onsite and can provide support, personal training and of course our employees are overjoyed to be working together again and keeping the team spirit alive.
Sabrina Gerstmayr from Munch says "in the office I can finally have personal contact with the team again and can use the infrastructure! Working with my two screens again is much more pleasant than working with just my laptop". Eva Friedel from the Leaning and Development adds "in the office, the distances are shorter, the exchanges are more direct and targeted development of employees is easier. With one to one appointments, meetings and sufficient daily distance, you can finally talk to people in a analogous way again, feel more connected and avoid many a technical hurdle."
A "normal" day in the office is still far off at this point, but we are doing our best to fully support our teams in hope that one day we can have a full office once again. Until then, we are looking forward to being in a site with reduced numbers and familiar faces!
