At SThree providing constructive career development opportunities to our employees is one of our top priorities. This is why we have launched a number of programmes and initiatives to help empower our people to enhance their performance.
In Tokyo for example, we recently kicked off our first session as part of the ‘2017 Certificate in Management Essentials Programme’ (CMEP).
CMEP is a programme designed to give our managers the skills, knowledge and behaviours they need to successfully manage and develop their teams. It’s a blended programme that focuses on raising self-awareness, business awareness and the development of personal management qualities aligned with SThree’s current and future job roles.
This training gave our future Asia Pacific Managers a fantastic opportunity not only to travel to our Tokyo office but also to share their knowledge and experience with other participants.
Spotlight on development
The workshop was led by our dedicated learning and development manager for the region and took place over the course of two days with subsequent one-on-one development coaching sessions that will take participants approximately six months to complete. It also included experiential learning activities, role plays, group discussions and team presentations.
Rounding up the programme, participants proposed a detailed action plan which they will put into action locally within the coming month. Their plans were presented to the senior leadership panel comprising Sales Director Angela Ward, Managing Director Grant Habgood and Sales Director Stuart Clark.
The development coaching sessions, as well as mentoring will continue for each of the employees in their respective countries to ensure they are given the right support in their career progression.
Hearing from our participants
Naufal Bin Omar Ashiblie, Senior Consultant from Singapore, who is currently developing his career into managing the local contracts team, shared, “It was a good exchange of ideas, solutions and perspectives from senior consultants in the business across Asia Pacific which will definitely help me as a future manager at SThree.”
“Having completed the course myself, I would recommend the CMEP training to anyone looking to take on a managerial position or just wanting to understand how to better work alongside your colleagues. Understanding how to effectively communicate to a diverse audience is key to the success of any team,” mentioned Alexandra Plowman, Senior Consultant from Hong Kong.
Daniel Illingworth, Senior Consultant from Australia added, “The CMEP course was an excellent opportunity to learn new skills and share ideas with colleagues from other countries from across the world. It’s testament to SThree’s commitment to investing in its staff and it’s a privilege to have been part of this programme and being in a fantastic city like Tokyo.”
