At SThree we know that recruitment can be a true springboard to success; so if you’re looking for a high potential career or a new challenge, then recruitment might just be the right career step for you.
It surely was the right decision for Laura Harries who started her career as an Associate Recruitment Consultant with SThree brand Real in Leeds 8 months ago. We chatted with her about how taking on this role has boosted her level of confidence and why she loves going to work every day.
What was your background prior to getting into recruitment?
“Prior to working in recruitment I had no sales experience at all. I could barely use a computer to be honest.”
“I had worked in a range of jobs since leaving school after my GCSE’s including retail, working in a few bars, nursery nursing and most recently I was an Assistant Manager for a skincare company in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.”
“I was ready to find something I could stick with and turn into a decent career.”
What has your first 8 months been like in the business?
“My first 8 months have been a whirlwind! In a good way!”
“It exceeded my expectations in regards to how much there would be to learn and how interesting it would be. I haven’t had a second to get bored and I have never had the urge to look at my watch. Everyone in the office has been really friendly and supportive. It is a truly great team!”
How do you find the training and development support we offer?
“The training and development has really helped me with my confidence and to understand how far I have come. When I first started I really didn’t have a clue what I was doing and I was so nervous.”
“Throughout my time at SThree brand Real, I have had constant support from my managers, Lara and the senior members of the team. Additionally, we have office role play sessions twice a week which have been really good for me.”
“I have learnt so much just by practicing and trying different things before those crucial calls or meetings.”
How has the role impacted your life?
“It has given me a massive boost of confidence, I am really motivated to do well and go out of my comfort zone. It has changed my views of what I can achieve and the extent of what is possible when you put that extra bit of effort in.”
“Like my manager Ryan always says, ‘This role is 20% skill and 80% effort’. I have also got to know some really great people and can honestly say I love going to work every day. There is never a dull moment!”
