Keelie O’Dea in Singapore tells us why a career with no limits and diversity and inclusion are just two of the reasons she’s thoroughly enjoyed the last 10 years working at SThree.
A career with no limits
After a year of travelling the world, Keelie joined the support team in London as a Contractor Care Advisor. SThree soon recognised her strong drive and motivation and, four years later, gave her the opportunity to move to Singapore and set up a team supporting the APAC and MENA region. Keelie is now a Placement Support Business Partner managing a team of ten.
“My managers in London were incredibly supportive and encouraged me to stretch my limits,” said Keelie. “I never imagined myself leading a team of ten as I didn’t have any prior management experience and I’m so proud of the support team in the region. SThree is great at creating opportunities and has a strong meritocratic approach allowing you to take charge of your own career whether you’re in sales or a support role,” she added.
A decade is a huge milestone and Keelie is still learning and growing with the company: “Our work is always evolving. We are always looking to continuously improve, understand our customers better and make our service the best in the industry.”
Diversity and Inclusion
Diversity and inclusion are at the heart of SThree and this is something Keelie firmly believes in. “I’m surrounded by successful women who inspire me to have a successful career with SThree. Beyond that, the work-life balance that SThree offers has been very helpful especially now I’m the mum of a one year old,” she said.
The HR policies are constantly reviewed to ensure they meet the needs of our employees. This includes the family friendly policy in Singapore that has been reviewed to increase maternity leave to 26 weeks in a 12 month period with 18 weeks fully paid. There is also greater flexibility for mums returning to work and all young parents to encourage, attract and retain talent because our people matter to us.
Stuart Clark, Regional Director of the Singapore office shared: “We completely understand the challenges a parent might face and we are here to support them as they go through this life-changing experience.”
Keelie added: “The support system at SThree is great. It made my transition back into the workplace smooth and enjoyable. More importantly, I could talk about my challenges and felt I never had to deal with them alone.”
