Are you preparing for a job interview at the moment or do you know someone who is?
Then these 7 interview tips are for you!
“My Manager just has no leadership skills.”
Do not bad mouth your current employer. As much as the job may not be right for you anymore, you should aim to create a good impression by presenting yourself as a respectful company player.
“We have to raise a PAF before the R2O can be done.”
Do not assume that the interviewer understands every industry acronym or abbreviation. Explain products and services as simply as possible in order to get your example across.
“I really really want this job and accept all conditions.”
Do not act like you are desperate for employment. This may put your interviewer off as they want employees who genuinely want to work for them, not people who will do the job until something better comes along.
So what should you say instead?
Here are 4 do’s!
“What are the common attributes of your top performers?”
This question will help you get some valuable insider information. If you ask this question early on, you can use this information to mirror the hiring manager’s current employees by giving examples of how you demonstrated similar traits in the past.
“What do you expect me to accomplish in the first 60 to 90 days?”
Asking this question demonstrates that you are eager to start and ensures you’re meeting their expectations. It also gives you the chance to see if the position is right for you.
“What are the one or two things that really drive results for the company?”
Great candidates want to know how they can make a difference to the company. They know that by helping the company succeed, they will succeed as well.
“How do you plan to deal with...?”
The purpose of this question is to show how your research is directly related to the business. For example, let’s say you’re interviewing with a tech company whose main product is a mobile phone. “How do you plan to deal with XYZ’s new launch this May?” will wow your interviewer and make you stand out.
